Inside Turn

Breakdown

Below is what each beat should look like during the inside turn. On 5, the right hand should come out to style, left foot should be turned about 20 degrees outwards and the hips facing slightly right (hip prep). On 6, the hand withdraws and both feet should be facing back. In between 6-7 is where the paper technique (ppt) happens. Do not worry about the ppt in the beginning, focus on 5, 6 and 7. Finally on 7, the left foot lands with the exact same position as the 5, about 20 degrees outwards.

The Paper Technique

There are 2 ways you can spin: using legs or hips (core).  The leg spinner moves their legs first and then drag the rest of their frame along. The core spinner moves their hips first and drill "downwards" into the ground as they pivot.  Core spinning requires you to understand where you center of gravity is and a spin board is very good at this discovery.

The "drilling" effect from the ppt can be seen visually during the 6-7 rotation, where the legs momentarily overlaps with each other.

To understand the ppt you can start with the heel-toe, toe-heel exercise where your legs are "frozen" in place. This forces you to move your hips first.
